Wedding Ideas

If you are planning a wedding then I'm sure you have seen Pinterest.
I tell ya, there are some super creative women out there.
Some of the ideas I've seen make me want to plan my wedding again.

Here are a few ideas I pinned:

Wouldn't it be nice to have a few extra dollars for your Honeymoon?
People always feel generous on your wedding day! :)

A new way to do the Garter Toss!
I love this idea.

If you're going to be outdoors- I think these are a MUST for ladies!
I can't tell you how many times shoes have gotten stuck in the grass.

Looking for Inspiration

Being a photographer means being an artist and being creative.
Sometimes it's being creative can feel hard.
Trying to find new locations or poses that haven't been overused
gets difficult when you have hundreds of photographers in your area.
It's inevitable that many photographers will use the same
standard poses and locations over & over.

So where can you go for inspiration besides the internet?
Magazines, billboards, sales ads, and store catalogs
are a great source for inspiration.

Here are a few magazine ads with fabulous ideas:
for the blog

1. I adore the half face shot! I've only done this once in my entire photography career. I have no idea why I haven't done this more often.
2. This is definitely more model like, but I think it would be an amazing shot for a bride.
3. Classic close up shot, or I like to think of this as an upgraded version of the "standard Olan Mills shot with the hand under the chin". This looks more chic. Maybe it's the hair, the ring, the false lashes...but I think this is a stunning shot.

4. I love shots where one subject is looking at the camera and the other is looking at the subject. No you might not have a size 0 model with long flowing hair, fluffy white snow, and a couple wearing Armani...but you can still make it work!
5. Totally different poses than your regular staircase shot huh?
6. When I look at this pose, I see cute and spontaneous. It doesn't feel forced. You could even use the suggestion from photo 4 and have one subject look at the camera.
7. Don't be afraid of shadows. Sometimes they work! This picture makes me think of a night out on the town coming to an end. I personally love the lighting.

There is no right answer to photography.
Everyone will have an opinion on what poses look best, what equipment to use, what settings to use, what lighting is best, what to avoid, etc. Once you get rid of all the opinions of others, and realize you're happy with your images and your clients are happy with their images, then nothing else matters.
You have to be the one to define your own style of photography!
